
Dear students,
A very warm welcome to our International Summer School on The Science of Happiness and Wellbeing!
We are delighted to have you join us – 15 students from Ireland and 5 from Kempten – for this unique and interactive learning experience. This course will explore key psychological frameworks such as the PERMA model, Mindset theories, and concepts from Positive Psychology, with practical applications to domains of your daily and professional life.
You will be learning in an interdisciplinary and international group through a mixture of online sessions, in-person workshops, group work, and self-reflection. The course will be taught in English and includes both theoretical input and personal application.
What will you learn?
By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Understand core psychological theories related to happiness and sustainable wellbeing.

Reflect on how happiness manifests in various aspects of life.

Apply concepts such as Grit, Growth Mindset, and Sustainable Wellbeing in your own personal or professional context.
To complete the course successfully, you are required to submit a Reflective Portfolio consisting of the following parts:

Personal Reflection Journal (approx. 600 words):
What did you learn during the course? What surprised or challenged you? What changed in your thinking? -
Theory in Practice (approx. 800–1,000 words):
Apply one or two course theories (e.g. PERMA, Grit, or Growth Mindset) to a real-life example – either your own life or a workplace/organisational setting. -
Sustainable Wellbeing Strategy:
Create a short written plan or visual concept (e.g. infographic, mind map) showing how you will apply the course learnings to your personal or professional life
